Our K–5 academic program lays a strong foundation in core subjects, including English Language Arts, math, science, social studies, and religion. Alongside these essential areas, students also participate in a variety of enriching special classes such as art, music, Spanish, PE, computer, and library. To support the whole child, students in grades K–3 engage in weekly social-emotional learning lessons led by our school counselor. Additionally, our K–2 students benefit from our school-wide buddy program, which pairs each child with a middle school student to help build a strong sense of connection and community across grade levels.
We understand the importance of movement and multisensory engagement in the learning process, especially for our younger students. Our reading instruction is rooted in the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Smekens playbook, providing a dynamic, hands-on learning experience. Minds in Motion mazes—both inside and outside the building—offer regular opportunities for purposeful movement, enhancing focus, coordination, and readiness to learn.
To ensure that every student receives personalized support, all grade levels have dedicated What I Need (WIN) time built into the weekly schedule. During this time, teachers and instructional assistants work one-on-one or in small groups with students, targeting specific learning needs and goals.
Through all of these intentional practices, we remain dedicated to forming students who are academically confident, enthusiastic about lifelong learning, and deeply rooted in their Catholic faith—faithfully living out the mission of St. Aloysius Catholic School each day.
