Teaching is truly an amazing profession. Each day, I am lucky to have the opportunity to set my students on a course of lifelong learning by facilitating discovery. In these every day and often ordinary moments, I see students learn to love books in new ways and realize the power of their own words. This is what I love about teaching.
As a teacher who holds dual licensure in both elementary education and special education, I have been privileged to be a part of this process of discovery for a variety of students. Watching students grow and become confident in their own abilities is one of my favorite parts of my job. To that end, I strive to make each day in my classroom a day where students can learn something new and grow confident as a learner and as an individual.
To me, teaching is both an art and a science. I enjoy researching and finding new ways to make content meaningful and then adapting these practices to best fit the strengths and needs of my students. By blending these two approaches, I work to make language arts both relevant and fun for each student in my class. It is my hope that when students are met with meaningful and engaging lessons, they will begin to form a foundation of lifelong learning.
